RITORNO AL DOJO

AIKIDO is one of the most beautiful arts imaginable.
Master Morihei Ueshiba was a man of extraordinary physical and spiritual powers, who left the world a legacy that is sometimes hard to understand.

When I was younger, twenty years ago, it seemed to me like an incomprehensible discipline. Over the years, I tried in vain to take it up again in every city we moved to, because I felt I had lost something.

And now, having finally found a dojo here in Yorkshire with exceptional teachers, I’m truly starting to fall in love with aikido — something I missed out on doing so many years back.

I’m falling in love with the energetic weave underlying every technique, with the respect between attacker and attacked, with the very meaning of the word Aikido, and with its being one of those practical applications of Love that the world so desperately needs.

Of course, yes — those first lessons knocked me out just like in the comic strip! 😄 But now, things are always, always getting better! And the honeymoon goes on…

L’ AIKIDO è una delle arti più belle immaginabili. Il Maestro Morihei Ueshiba era un uomo dai poteri fisici e spirituali straordinari, che ha lasciato al modo un’eredità a volte difficile da capire.

Da ragazza, vent’anni fa, mi era parsa una disciplina incomprensibile. Negli anni, ho sempre cercato invano di riprenderla, in qualunque città ci fossimo trasferiti, perchè sentivo di aver perso qualcosa. E adesso che ho finalmente ritrovato un Dojo con dei maestri eccezionali qua nello Yorkshire, sto iniziando davvero a innamorarmi dell’aikido, come avevo mancato di fare tanti anni fa. Innamorarmi della trama energetica sottesa a ogni tecnica, del rispetto tra attaccante e attaccato, del significato stesso del termine Aikido, del suo essere una di quelle applicazioni pratiche dell’Amore delle quali ha bisogno il mondo.

Poi, sì, certo, le prime lezioni mi hanno massacrata come nella vignetta 😄! Adesso comunque va sempre, sempre meglio!E la luna di miele continua…
